Beyond Limits Awards

Do you know of a therapy cat, d*g, horse, parrot or other animal and his/her human that makes a positive difference in peoples’ lives? Now’s the time to celebrate these wonderful partnerships! Delta Society honors the best Pet Partners team each year that works with animal assisted therapy. The Beyond Limits Awards deadline for applications has been extended to July 15, 2008. Volunteers train for countless hours and donate their time—and the love of their animals—in hospitals, schools, nursing homes and other facilities. Four Beyond Limits Awards will be given this year. Winners will be recognized in the national media, receive $500.00 and a special award. For the new Pet Partner with a minimum of one year’s experience and less than two, Delta Society is looking for that special team that has made an impact in a short span of time. Another award is presented to the individual that has been a registered Pet Partner for over two years. The winning team should have reached far beyond its role as a Pet Partners team and has made an amazing difference in their community. A third award is presented to the current Pet Partner that’s been registered for over two years, and the animal has come from a shelter or has been rescued in some way. The final Beyond Limits Award is for teachers, mental health providers, physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, recreation therapists, child life specialists, nurses, speech/language pathologists, social workers, librarians and other healthcare professionals or educators who incorporate AAT into patient/client or student care.
