Banfield Pet Hospital hosted it's "hottest dog" contest in Brooklyn this past weekend.

This past Saturday, November 12, Banfield Pet Hospital, the largest veterinary practice in the world, held a fabulously unique "hot dog" contest to celebrate the opening of its newest facility inside the new Brooklyn PetSmart location.

The contest was open to all New York pets and their pet parents for a shot at the opportunity to be named the “Hottest Dog” in the city.

The event was judged by Joey Chestnut, the world famous hot dog eater and five-time winner of the Nathan's International Hot Dog Eating Contest. On this occasion, the Brooklyn native and famous competitive eater was not gobbling down the dogs, but rather carefully eyeing each canine contestant for those who exhibited the highest qualities of the categories upon which these "hot dogs" were judged. Those categories were: Pooch Personality, Cute Canine, Owner’s Interpretation of “Hot”, and Display of Affection.

I would bet my bottom dollar that this may have been an arduous task for a judge who was deep in concentration, trying not to be distracted with all those tails wagging and an abundance of doggie kisses slurped upon him.

While the pooches strutted their stuff prancing in front of Joey, their pawrents enjoyed chowing down (albeit not competitively), on the free yummy mouth-watering franks from the iconic Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs, straight out of an authentic hot dog cart .

Since Joey obviously knows his dogs, the three finalists vying for the prize in this well-attended competition were chosen with the eye of a professional connoisseur. The smile on Chestnut's face (as evidenced by the photos) is a dead giveaway of his passion for the four-legged variety of “hot dogs."

So without further ado, and the obligatory drum roll, Joey Chestnut’s choice of the three winners of the title of the “Hottest Dog” in Brooklyn, were an adorable nine-week old puppy named Vivi, a charming canine named Sasha owned by Miles Nicky, and, of course Chloe, wearing the most appropriate outfit. Let’s give them a round of apaws!

I think these “hot dogs” are amazing eye candy, don’t you agree? Let us know with a comment.
