Two dogs (pit-bulls)in Philadelphia were found starving and buried in the trash in the backyard of a Philadelphia residence.

This morning news broke of an animal cruelty story that can only be called chilling and disturbing, to say the least. According to the NBC Philadelphia affiliate, two emaciated dogs have been discovered in the backyard of a home in the Strawberry Mansion section of Philadelphia. The dogs, two pit-bull mixes, were found starving and buried in trash.

According to authorities, police originally were called to search the home for a suspect believed to be involved in an assault case. Upon arriving to the home and conducting their search, however, they found the bodies of the pit-bulls piled in the trash in the backyard.

Authorities also said they found a starving cat with numerous fleas and parasites in the home as well.

Soon after, police called the PSPCA to come and remove the animals. The dogs were taken to a veterinary hospital for care and are receiving SPCA medical treatment. They're expected to recover.

For what can only be described as their utter neglect, the entire family will face charges of animal cruelty.

Kill the owners. They do not deserve to live.

Why not reveal the families name? Why give them the honor of privacy? They don't deserve it.

First the courts can't do any more than anti-animal cruelty laws allow. WE need tougher laws on the books that allow real punishment of these slimes. The way to make a difference is to call your local and state representives and demand stronger laws. Animals are considered property right now, like a piece of furniture. That is a place to start. We need to change that and work up from there! WE, the people can make the difference. We have a voice, send e-mails, letters and phone calls to the people who make the laws. Furthermore I don't believe these type slimes should be working in animal rescue. Because of how they treat their own pets. Jeeeeze! We don't send child molesters out to work with children as punishment. These folk are sociopaths who can't change. Only the animals will suffer. They should be forbidden to ever own another animal.

Maybe the family is quite poor and can't afford dog food or cat food. But being a family they didn't want to separate their animal friends. But knowing the system, no food stamps is allowed to buy dog or cat food. It's called do we feed the kids or the animals? I have struggled in the past myself since I have cats. I have gone hungry to make sure they are feed. It's to the point where I'm tired of how our "system" is. I live on $243 a month thru VA disability and just started back into college. Times are very hard and I just got told I can't be on food stamps unless I work part time at least 20 hrs a week or I am in work study. I'm going thru a online college so I don't think work study is available for me. I live in a small community and as everyone knows....jobs are not easy to come by. So don't be so harsh unless you know all the facts. As the bible says " Judge not or ye shall be judged ". I hope the animals make a full recovery and go onto better lives.

You need to make better choices instead of placing blame elsewhere. You need to get a job, period. No, but this or can't that...get yourself in gear and go to work! There are plenty of jobs that are available at all hours of the day & night starting with caring for animals at at vet or boarding facility where care is required 24/7. Next you should re-consider pet ownership if you can't afford it. Volunteer at the shelter instead-it doesn't cost anything & you will be rewarded by helping others. Finally, there is never, never any excuse to abuse any of God's creatures, animal or human. Good luck to you, make this be the day your life begins anew!
