Pet 'Net 2012: North Carolina Shelter Receives $5,000

Your Votes Helped Carteret County Humane Society Help Animals

Thanks to your votes, Petside will be awarding $5,000 to the Carteret County Humane Society Animal Shelter located in Newport, North Carolina. The shelter is a not-for-profit facility that takes in stray or lost pets and takes animals relinquished by owners in the county the shelter resides in.

Like many shelters, Carteret County Humane’s mission is to help as many animals as they can, and they work tirelessly to help adopt out the pets that they come across, partnering with local and out of state rescue groups alike to find forever-loving homes for animals in need. They are helping change the world, one animal life at a time.

they just raided another area for dog fighting here. the man at the head of it said, "your're walking in a dog cemetary right now." he had been doing this for the last 20 yrs. fla. needs more astringent laws regarding this practice. i see the same people being allowed to go right back to owning animals again. i guess since micheal vic can do it so can they. i cannot believe they are letting him posses another animal ever. they say its for his kids, well gee whiz their father ruined that for them as far as i am concerned. the show dog town showed 4 of the pits that had been removed from vics ring, one named georgia had all of her teeth removed {by a vet} so she would mate without incident. he took something wonderful and innocent and turned it into a monster. these 4 pits had been in rehab for over 19 months. those scars will be there forever. i was an abused child and i had no voice, i feel a very deep connection with these abused creatures. i will be their voice. i truly love cesar milan and his style of rehab for animals and training people. calm assertive energy, he should be up for sainthood. he just had a dog walk in wa d. c. thats one way go where the laws are made. but we can only accomplish this goal by educating people.

I,too, am so disappointed with Michael Vick getting the opportunity to abuse another dog. Doing it for his kids,.,..yeah, right. He didn't suffer any consequences for his cruel behavior and unfortunately many people of celebrity get away with egoistical behavior and poor choices and murderous cruelty.
